Data Classification
Last updated: April 2, 2025
Brighthive supports several types of classification, including system-defined calcification and user-defined classification. Some of the system-defined classification schemes are automatically implemented upon data/metadata ingestion, and then editable by data asset owners.
Classification Types
- Personally Identifiable Information (PII)
- Sensitive PII, nonsensitive PII, no PII
- PII is automatically classified upon data upload and covers a broad set of PII categories
- Data Sensitivity Tiers
- Includes Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3
- Data Access Classification
- Includes Private, Restricted, and Shared
- On the Brighthive platform, data asset managers can classify data assets as private, restricted, or shared upon uploading data
- Private: Only can be accessed by the data asset manager
- Restricted: Requires the data asset managers’ consent to use in a project
- Shared: Can be added to a project by anyone.
- Custom tags
- Users can add their own classification scheme for data through custom tags.
